The idea

I got the idea for this project from a friend, Jaison. Jaison is an amazing artist and an expert in UI design, music and many more things. One day during a casual chat he told me about a point system he is maintaining to limit his crave for buying electronics.

He had a list of things he wanted to turn into routine  but was too lazy to do anything about it. Jaison decided to make a system which will reward him points whenever he completes a task, (For eg: A workout session would account for 30 points and so on) He also made a wish-list and allocated points based on the price of each item (like 3000 points for a $30 item). He restricted himself to buy those items in his wish-list only when he accumulated enough points by doing what he was generally lazy about. For eg: If he wanted to buy 3000 points ($30) worth headphone, he needs to workout for 100 days. 🙂

Excited about the idea, I came back home and started making the wireframe if this was turned into an App. I created a quick prototype and shared it with him. He loved the idea though it was just a prototype.

To make it work, I made a Google form and set a reminder to update it every evening. For starters I replaced ‘electronics' with ‘beer' and tried it out for a month. It worked so well for me.  A couple of friends tried it out as well. Then life took over followed by COVID -19. During a casual online meet up with friends, one of them mentioned how much the google sheet shared by me was still helping him! It had encouraged him to cook at home and put a stop to ordering takeaways.

The rest as they say is the future! Here’s earnestly hoping that Habet will help put your life & loves in order! 🙂 Cheers!
